FAQs

How long does each therapy session take?

Each session is 50 minutes to an hour long.

What are the Medicare rebates?

Medicare rebates are available with a referral from your GP. The medicare rebate for a clinical psychologist is $136.35 for a 50 minute session.

Do I need a referral?

You don't need a referral. However, if you do have a referral from your GP, psychiatrist or pediatrician, you will be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate, as well as up to 10 sessions per year, depending on your needs.

How do I get a mental health care plan?

You will need to make an appointment with your GP, who will assess whether you are eligible for a mental health care plan. Ypu will be eligible for ten rebatable sessions on your mental health care plan.
To be able to claim the Medicare rebate, you will need to bring your mental health care plan to your first appointment.

What is the cancellation policy?

We value your time and reserve an appointment time for you. Trying to accommodate every patient’s individual needs and work schedule can be difficult, but we always try to do our best. A scheduled appointment is a commitment of time between you and the clinic. We reserve the time just for you. When appointments are missed or cancelled at late notice, that time is permanently lost. When you reserve an appointment, we allocate a full one hour for you.
If you are unable to attend an appointment, we would appreciate if you give a minimum of 24 hours’ notice.
Failure to do so will result in a missed appointment fee of $100. If you cancel or do not attend more than once, then full session payment will be charged and you won’t be able to receive a rebate.
We are unable to give you another appointment in future if you do not attend the appointment and give no reason for your non-attendance.

Can I use my private health insurance?

If you have private health insurance that includes psychology as an extra cover, you may be eligible for a partial rebate.
Please note that you cannot claim private health rebates and medicare rebates at the same time.
